What is Cosmetic Bonding?

Cosmetic Bonding is made out of dental resin, and we use different colors and translucencies to mimic your existing tooth structure. Bonding works well when you have existing tooth structure that you want to add to. Many times we do not have to take away any extra tooth structure.

In cases where no tooth reduction is needed, you could remove the bonding years later and it was as if it was never there in the first place. The resin is adhesively bonded (hence the name) to your existing tooth and can be polished off later if desired.

Cosmetic bonding relies heavily on the artistic ability of the cosmetic dentist. If Dr. Rand had a favorite technique, bonding would be it!

Bonding works well for closing small gaps, adding to small teeth and lengthening teeth slightly if your existing teeth are already the right color and in a good position.

The Process

We do complete and comprehensive evaluations before starting the bonding process. In some cases, where the changes are minor we can describe the process and walk you through the process. When many teeth or more significant bonding is necessary, we will make a scan of your entire mouth and digitally plan exactly how your bonding will look before we ever start.

Depending on how many crowns you need, we will scan your mouth and either design and deliver the crowns to you that day, or make you some temporary crowns so that you can see your new smile and make sure that you don’t want to change anything. We use a premium dental laboratory in California (the same lab that some of Hollywood’s elite use for their own teeth).

Come see us and let’s plan your ideal smile.
